Maryann P. Creighton, 72, of Troy Schenectady Road, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Albany Medical Center. Maryann was born in Schenectady to the late Raymond C. and Marjory Devine Bendall and was a lifelong Schenectady area resident. She was a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, receiving a bachelor's degree in nursing and Russell Sage College, receiving a master's degree in education. Maryann worked as a nurse and teacher for the Schenectady City School District for 34 years, retiring in 2002. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady and a member of the church Rosary Society. Maryann was a loving wife and mother. She adored her grandchildren and was a loving caregiver to several members of her family. She was also a foster mother to several children. Maryann was predeceased by her husband, G. Norman Creighton, who died in 1997. She is survived by two children, William (Jennifer) Creighton of Niskayuna and Amy (Jake) Kiefner of Rotterdam Junction; three brothers, Richard C. Bendall of Sanford, FL, Ronald F. Bendall and James W. Bendall both of Niskayuna; seven grandchildren, Billy Creighton, Jr., Ashley and Bryce Creighton all of Niskayuna, Kyle and Dakoda Kiefner, Shawn and Georgia Clark all of Rotterdam Junction. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, beloved friend of Yolanda Jones. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
