JOHN H. RATHBONE Jr.

John H. Rathbone, Jr., 68, formerly of Fairfax Avenue, Schenectady, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at home in Scotia. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late John and Jean (Osinski) Rathbone, Sr. John was very proud of achievements in life especially his children and grandchildren, who he loved very much and meant the world to him. The owner of J & R Speed and Sport in the 1960s, he went on to operate J & R Auto Marine, Rathbone Racing and to patent EZ Lock of Schenectady. He was also employed at Syracuse Supply. A strong man and loyal friend who would never walk away from a challenge and stood fast in his shoes, he fought to live life until the very end. John is survived by his children, John H. Rathbone IV (Jennifer) of Schenectady and Sarah J. Clarius (Matthew) of Virginia; stepson, Richard L. Hansen (Pamela) of Scotia; grandchildren, Howie, Monica and Ila Jean Rathbone and his former wife, Jane Jennings (Bob) of Cairo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, April 29 at 9:15 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY, followed at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 520 Bradt Street, Schenectady, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
