Gail C. Davies, 67, formerly of Schenectady, physical therapist and author, of Chatham Township New Jersey, died on Tuesday, November 30th, 2010, at Morristown Memorial Hospital, NJ. The cause was lymphoma which proved unresponsive to long term treatment. The daughter of Martha Stenard and the late Robert Stenard Sr. of Regent Street, Schenectady, Gail Davies was born on March 6th, 1943 and attended Linton High School. Becoming a licensed physical therapist, she graduated from New York University and later received a master's degree from Farleigh Dickinson University, NJ. She also obtained senior qualifications in geriatric physical therapy. Gail Davies directed physical therapy services at King James Care Center in Chatham, NJ, for many years. More recently with a colleague, Fran Scully, she founded a company, Fall Prevention Advisors, to assist seniors in avoiding accidents at home or in care. Their book, Fall Prevention, Stay On Your Own Two Feet, has been nationally successful. She participated very actively on the Board of the Senior Services Center of the Chathams, New Jersey, during a period when their facilities and services where greatly improved and expanded. Due to ill health, she resigned as president in September of this year. An active member of the Chatham, NJ, United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, she had many other interests including golf, recorder playing and also regularly volunteering at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Surviving are her mother, Martha Stenard; her husband, Jon; sons, Michael and Donald; daughter, Anna; grandson, Kai, and her brother, Robert Stenard Jr. of Chiswell Road, Schenectady. Cremation is private with arrangements under the direction of Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home of Chatham, NJ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11th at 11 a.m. at the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928.
